BIOGRAPHY

Born in Buffalo, New York in 1945, Susan Rothenberg is defined as a contemporary paintor which is postmodern art. She started off creating abstract, life-sized paintings of horses. A select amount of her paintings contain horses with
fragmented body parts such as heads, eyes, and hands is an example of an artist's postmodern art. The interesting concept of Rothenberg's work is that she is an oil painter, however she distinguishes herself from the hundreds of years it has been around by having her own style and techniques that gives her work the postmodern touch.
As modernism died out, many artitst, especially painters in America and Europe beagan to focus on a new style known as Neo-Expressionism. This movement was to recreate the definition of aesthetic of the time with such movements as Conceptual Art and Minimalism. One of the greatest and first of these Neo-Expressionist artists was Susan Rothenberg. Her works are symbolic using figurative images and extremely orignal subject matter.
Susan like a range of color palette designs, however, mostly used a range of different hues including grays, blues, and whites. These are some of her greatest works and a prime example of the Post Modern Era.
